your product or service Most affiliate programs will provide you with a ready made affiliate website, and for those just starting out in internet marketing, this will be good enough to get you started. But those ready made websites have many drawbacks that can hinder your overall success in affiliate marketing. To succeed online, you must be able to separate yourself from the rest of the marketers who are promoting the very same product you are. The best way to do this is by creating your own unique website that draws the prospects attention to your promotion better than the others. The thought of designing a website can be very intimidating to most, but with the recent advances in software, and the many helpful tutorials available it is much easier. Without a contact list of targeted leads, you are simply not going to go too far. You have more than likely seen the ads that tell you that you can send your ad to millions of people. Or offers of leads you can buy at a special price. For the beginner, this may seem like the way to go, but the sad fact is that this area of internet marketing is full of alot of unethical practices and you could find yourself in a lot of trouble by using these so called services. I am not saying that all are bad, but if you do decide to go this route, use caution and your better judgment. The best method is to generated your own list of targeted leads. By offering a free item or sample for the prospect to use, in exchange for their email address, you then have them as a warm contact and you can send them your offer without getting yourself in trouble. In order to get those prospects on your contact list, you need to get them to your website so they can fill out your form to get the free offer. That is done through traffic generation. There are many ways to attract traffic to your website, some can be rather costly, as in pay per click (PPC) advertising but there are free and low cost methods you can use to get traffic to your site that will get you started earning money so you will be able to invest in some more expensive traffic generating methods.
